MARMORSLOTTET/ THE MARBLE CASTLE
Marmorslottet is situated a 45 minutes drive from Mo i Rana just south of the Polar Circle. You drive north, take off E6 at Røssvoll and drives 30 kilometres towards Melfjordbotn. When you come to a bridge you don`t drive over it but instead follow the farmroad 4 kilometres to the farm Fisktjønna. Here you park your car. You follow the track past the farm and walks to Marmorslottet in about 25 minutes. After 15-20 minutes there is a sign showing where to go down. It is a little steep the last bit. Take your time and explore the potholes and beautiful formations! If the river isn`t too big, walk over through a pothole and to the other side. There you will find a cave about 100 metres longer up. The rocks are completely white around there with beautiful formations under them. The best conditions to go over the river is from mid-September/Oktober. Before it is often too big. But the adventure is very big if you just keep to the first side of the river also! The norwegian version is here.
